Retainers: what you're paying for
A good agency earns its fee on three things: knowing which communities matter for your product, having people who can post there, and keeping the work moving — briefs, approvals, replies, reporting. If you have none of that in-house and the budget for it, the retainer is honest money. Two questions before signing: what share of the fee reaches the people who post, and can you see their accounts?
Per-post: the unit is wrong
“$X per post” treats a Reddit post like an ad slot. It isn't. The value is in who posts and whether it stays up; a post from the wrong account is worth zero at any price.
